We walked in silence through his garden. He made sure to switch off the electric bulbs in the garden to make the place more exotic and exciting.

We approached the cage where his tiger was lying. The animal raised his head when he heard the movements of his owner opening the cage door.

Larsson entered the cage and remained for a time with his pet, making him tame and comfortable so he would be calm when it was time for me to go in.

"Come!" He said to me. He remained standing in the middle of the cage, making a barrier between me and the tiger with his own body.

It took a few seconds before I dared to get into the cage. I knew I was putting my life at risk and perhaps the life of Larsson too.

"Come in , Emily ! Or will you give up now?"

I stepped forward boldly even though inside I didn’t feel brave at all.

"I never give up!" I said hoping my voice sounded strong. I tried to convince myself that I had made the right decision when my fingers touched the cold iron barrier. I opened the door and walked into the cage for the first time. The tiger rose and seemed to be double his size. He still stood behind Larsson.

"Zulu, lie down now!" Larsson ordered the animal.

I closed my eyes in fear and dared not to open them until I heard Larsson's voice.

"It's okay," he said gently.

I opened my eyes slowly. I looked down and saw the tiger lying towards the back of the cage. But his eyes were aware of our every move, especially mine as I was a stranger to him. I was very aware of my movements and tried to move slowly so as not to alarm the tiger.

I began to feel like an ice doll, something which wasn’t flexible but rigid in its movements. Everything I had ever said in that place was always after being the green light from Larsson, with the famous phrase -

GO AHEAD!

I kept my back glued to the bars and did not dare to move to far away from the door. I felt as if my every move represented each second of my life and I could not make an error or slip up in any way because it could mean my precarious end.

Larsson TIGER turned his back to his tiger and walked towards me. He stopped in front of me. This eased my fear somewhat but did not take it away completely.
